It's the 26th November 2020 and the fourth Thursday in the month and our American neighbours are sharing Thanksgiving with us. Socially distanced of course in sealed containers, not once but twice. Today I am thankful for our neighbours and their generosity of spirit and friendship.
It was only last year that I really began to understand what Thanksgiving was all about. My neighbour who works for the American military explained that their circumstances enabled them to celebrate twice and that meant they shared twice with us. Last year we were able to walk and talk and began to get to know each other a little more, and we shared the enjoyment of talking about our own countries and household traditions. In many respects Thanksgiving is just that, saying thank you for the things and people you are grateful, thankful and have been blessed to meet. Another American friend sent me my first Thanksgiving card and I was blown away by her statement of 'thank you for being my friend'.
For me a gift of a dinner (two actually) and a chat over the fence and now via text is all it took to make me feel blessed. I'm not an old lady (yet) but I'm growing my sparkles (grey hair) and the touch of that gift of food was memorable. If it took only 'thank you for being my friend' to make me feel special, it set me wondering...Thank you Jesus for being my friend and I imagine that thankful prayer being wafted heavenward (along with the steam from the roast dinner) and I feel sure God has tasted that gift too. A simple gift; a meal and a blessing...now where have we met that before?

My gift back to Lori, in the only way I could say thank you, by saying it in colour and stitch.
Advent - Inside with the Jesse Tree
I have absolutely no idea if this will work but here is part one of an idea for Advent. Each day there is a small task with an invitation to interact. I had it in mind to zoom deliver it feedback first would be good. Could you let me know if you would want to join me perhaps next Friday at 9am via zoom? We could start with a brief Celtic Morning Prayer session and you can tell me how you got on and whether you want to meet up again? There are three more sessions.

1 Corinthians 1.3-9
1 Corinthians 1.3-9 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I give thanks to my* God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus, 5for in every way you have been enriched in him, in speech and knowledge of every kind— 6just as the testimony of* Christ has been strengthened among you— 7so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you may be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9God is faithful; by him you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Peace be with you friends.
