Snow, sun and books go together as much as sun, sea and sand. Every so often a book stops us in our tracks. I joined the Duchess of Cornwall’s book club via Instagram last week and am catching up on some reading for pleasure. The Duchess’s office has even liked my response to joining in this fabulous reading initiative! The glow of being touched, distantly by royalty makes me inwardly smile. But it was the suggestion by my good friend that I read “I heard the owl call my name” by Margaret Craven that has raised more than a glow but a inner warmth at the humanity of the story. It is a small, small book in comparison with so many tombs today, but in that smallness is a magnificent narrative of finding our place on this earth and where we belong.
It is also not lost on me that you don’t have to say very much to say huge amounts. We have a portable library at our disposal in the collective works of the bible. Little books, saying huge amounts in few words, curated together in order of size of scroll. They had to be catalogued somehow, size matters in some case eh?
If you haven’t read “I heard the owl call my name” perhaps give it a go or revisit it. A gentle, poignant story of one man finding his sense and living a little of life, his best life whilst he can. Less is more…you will need tissues.
Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.

Observing winter glory in all her finery…
This week we reached a milestone not to be forgotten, 100,162 fellow brothers and sisters died as the result of Covid-19. Most of us have been touched directly or know of someone close who has been affected. Our hearts rightly go out to them as do our prayers. In Oundle some of our close friends are dealing with the indirect constraints of this pandemic. Please hold them close in prayer, and for those who do not know their names could you pray for peace to surround their coming in and going out, likewise here, we pray for those we do not know, nevertheless we hold them tight in prayer.
From the 1st of February we are invited by the Archbishop of Canterbury and Archbishop of York to pray at 6pm each day...
In my stitch journal I marked the 80,000 milestone with forget-me-nots...have embroidered the number and date when we reached the 100,162 mark and intend to stitch more forget-me-nots. Heartfelt prayer will go into those stitches, forget-me-nots are the colour of the NHS logo too. Along with the rainbow we have much to remember and give thanks for amidst the tears, He is with us in all this.

Take care friends, and peace be with you. <><
