Companionability with my sweet Lord.

Haiku 'Crunch'

carpet of fall gold

loosened from joyous limbs

sounds of coming change

quilt glowing embers

swirling around our persons

moving leaves of love

conjured leavings

worn out memories of summers

dreams left scattered done

Caroline Hawkins, 21/10/20

Leaves are irresistible, I bet, just bet you can't walk through the leaves without just a little kick to watch them swirl and dance around? They invite an unobserved rushing headlong into the very middle of the carpet of crunchiness just to hear the sounds of autumn and the invocation of snuggled up blankets, fires, hot chocolate and a jolly good book.

Half-term or non half-term is coming up and I must admit I am trawling the bookshelves for something to get my teeth into. Advent is looming and I absolutely love this contemplative time of year. But it's a bit early yet and I am in danger of not living in the present moment with God and jumping ahead into a cocoon of self hibernation as we begin to hunker down for the colder months.

Whilst change is happening it is difficult to be still and find the space to be still even when our movement is restricted. Somehow restriction makes us even more restless and there is a sense that stillness is needed more so. Yes, I've found another Shane and Shane song it's called "In the Secret".

"...

In the secret, in the quiet place In the stillness You are there In the secret, in the quiet hour I wait only for You 'Cause I want to know You more

I want to know You I want to hear Your voice I want to know You more I want to touch You I want to see Your face I want to know You more

I am reaching for the highest goal That I might receive the prize Pressing onward, pushing every hindrance aside Out of my way 'Cause I want to know, know You more

I want to know You I want to hear Your voice I want to know You more I want to touch You I want to see Your face

I want to know You more (know You more)

I want to know You I want to hear Your voice I want to know You more (more) I want to touch You I want to see Your face I want to know

…"

Now some of those lyrics are ambitious; right now I am just happy to sit quietly, in a space and just be, not attain, but just sit in companionability with my Lord. Of course that got me thinking and I make no apologies for my hippy moment of happiness when I recall George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" which for some of you might be the preferred song bite that takes you to your happy place. This clip is from the tribute at the Albert Hall and I remember watching it, but there is something about this song which has a longing about it, along with it's joy, I love it! It's about the love of God.

My Sweet Lord George Harrison

My sweet Lord Mm, my Lord Mm, my Lord I really want to see you Really want to be with you Really want to see you, Lord But it takes so long, my Lord My sweet Lord Mm, my Lord Mm, my Lord I really want to know you Really want to go with you Really want to show you, Lord That it won't take long, my Lord My sweet Lord (Hallelujah) Mm my Lord (Hallelujah) My sweet Lord (Hallelujah) Really wanna see you Really wanna see you Really wanna see you, Lord Really wanna see you, Lord But it takes so long, my Lord My sweet Lord (Hallelujah) Mm, my Lord (Hallelujah) My my my Lord (Hallelujah) I really wanna know you (Hallelujah) Really wanna go with you (Hallelujah) Really wanna show you, Lord That it won't take long, my Lord (Hallelujah) Mmm (Hallelujah) My sweet Lord (Hallelujah) My my Lord…

Whichever is your preferred sound world, and it doesn't matter which one it is, make time to sit and be with Your Sweet Lord.

Next week I am going to have a week off as a little rest and recovery (its been a full on few weeks) is needed. You might find me in a pile of leaves somewhere, dancing around in a swirl of golds, reds, greens and yellows singing something at the top of my voice (but from a safe social distance) ;)!

See you again on Friday 6th November at 9am (although I will be with you for virtual prayer next week too but just way from the blog spot!

Peace be with you friends.

Caroline
