Welcome to this listening space, a telling space where I learn as a brand new, raw around the edges Reader. Exploring what it is to share the weekly gathering space in a virtual reality.
One thing....
“...this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life...”
Each Friday morning at 9.00am at St Peters' in Oundle, in the Diocese of Peterborough those who wish to gather for Celtic Morning Prayers log on to the Northumbrian Community Website. We say the prayers individually, but know that we are together in church, but apart and that we are held by the Spirit in the solidarity of prayer.
Creating a rhythm.
As a group we have been meeting for a number of years now and it has become a regular pattern of our worship to have a prayer 'sandwich' to the week. Some of us meet at a house group on a Monday afternoon and then gather again with those who wish to pray in this gentle style on a weekly basis. It sets us up for the week and the weekend gently leads us to our Sunday morning celebrations and worship pattern. It is of course open to all and all are welcome to join us. We often meet for coffee afterwards and continue our fellowship with discussion as we have always tried to be church without walls.
To what purpose?
“...Be in the heart of each to whom I speak; in the mouth of each who speaks unto me...” text from the daily office, Northumbrian Community Prayer Book.
The online Northumbrian Community has been a stepping stone and catalyse for some to explore their faith and enter deeper into their relationship with God. When Rev Lynda Davies invited me a while ago to help lead the morning sessions I had no idea where it would take me. Of course someone did, Himself! Now, "Here I am Lord", another pilgrim and humble servant helping to share Your Good News in the only way I can, through the written word.
Nothing unusual in that...
Yep there is a catch. I am very, very dyslexic. God's wonderful and blessed bit of fun that He called me to be a Reader! Reading and writing has always been a struggle, but I learnt to type at secretarial college many light years ago and discovered via help and the Open University that if I had a bit of help and a Mac and keyboard perhaps I could do it! I got my BA Open (Art History & Humanities) was taught to teach and find myself a Licensed Lay Minister and Reader within the Peterborough Diocese of the Church of England and an Adult Education Tutor for Northamptonshire County Council tutoring; Art History, Silver Metal Clay Jewellery and Dressmaking. In addition I am a team leader for the Bin Fairies at Greenbelt.
